I'm not too much of a fan of Vista either.

ok, but, are you not a fan only because of what you have read or heard, or have you actually tried Vista?

Hi,

I use Ubuntu and Debian on my home system most of the time and Windows XP for those odd crucial apps that I can't get going with WINE under *nix.

For web servers I use centOS and FreeBSD in some cases (although we are gearing more towards centOS these days).

Well one of the computers in the house is vista so that is why I don't like it but I need to buy a new computer. The only thing "basically" I can get is Vista since that is mostly what is in the stores now. But i need a new computer...

Some say Windows for business, Linux for servers, Windows for gaming, Linux for play.

Yea, I take it that way. Linux for a server and Windows for my basic computing. I actually haven't played with a Windows server but it would be interesting to play with it.

I'm sure it would be $$$ too. I run windows for my dealings with web hosting and design to stay in contact with clients/programmers/designers/etc, I have Vista on the laptop for play right now, and Linux one day when I get to getting some parts for the other machine for play as well. I will still always game on Windows though, I love my UT. :D

I tried most of them but i do prefer XP over all of this OS they seem to Run far better and compatibility issues is not a problem because most of the software today runs well in this OS.
